2019 Hennessey VelociRaptor goes Jurassic with the Ford Ranger

Hennessey is taking the lessons learned from 10 years of tuning Ford’s F-150 Raptor and applying that to Ford’s new Ranger. The VelociRaptor starts with the 2.3-liter Ecoboost engine, increasing horsepower from the stock 270 to 350 thanks to ECU programming, a higher-flowing intake, and stainless steel exhaust. Hennessey’s Stage 1 offroad package comes next, lifting the truck four inches with new shocks, springs, and custom Hennessey 17-inch wheels, bringing the total height increase to six inches over stock. The exterior gets upgrades with a steel bumper with integrated LED lights and optional winch. Just 500 Ranger VelociRaptors will be made for 2019. Hennessey will either upgrade your current Ranger or sell you the entire upgraded truck, ready to drive.

Hennessey, being from Texas, likes things big, so the fact that the company would figure out how to not only make the all-new Ford Ranger more powerful but also larger is not a surprise(Credit: Hennessey Performance)

Do you want to have more power under the hood of your Ranger? Thought about swapping out the bi-turbo diesel engine for something meatier? Well the guys over at Hennessey Performance have just released a powertrain upgrade for the pick-up truck.

The only catch is that it’s only being offered for the US-spec Ranger for now.

Unlike the rest of the world which can get their hands on the all-new Ranger Raptor, the US market only gets the standard Ranger. However, they do get a more powerful engine, a 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline-four that cranks out 270 PS and 420 Nm of torque.

Hennessey Performance, however, thought they could do better, as well as make their own version of a Ranger Raptor stateside. So they took what they have from previous VelociRaptor builds and applied it onto the 2019 Ranger. Say hello to the Hennessey VelociRaptor Ranger, a 350 PS beast that also comes with over 520 Nm of pulling power.

Hennessey’s changes result in the Ranger’s little 2.3-liter turbocharged engine jumping from an already-respectable 270 horsepower (201 kW) to 350 bhp (261 kW) in output(Credit: Hennessey Performance)

That’s right, this ute now packs 80 more horsepower and a 100 more Nm of torque thanks to a new engine management system, high-flow air induction system, and a stainless steel catback exhaust system. With it, Hennessey claims that their new VelociRaptor can go from 0 – 97 km/h in just 6.1 seconds, 1.3 seconds faster than stock.

Besides giving the Ranger more power, Hennessey also upgraded its suspension and chassis. It gets a stage 1 suspension lift that raises the pick-up by 4-inches, unique 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich 285/70 all-terrain tires and wider fender flares. Other key upgrades installed on the pick-up truck include a roof-mounted LED lightbar, and a VelociRaptor front bumper  complete with additional LED lights.

“We are so excited to introduce our 2019 Hennessey VelociRaptor upgrades for the 2019 Ford Ranger truck. The demand for our VelociRaptor upgrades for the Ford Raptor truck has been incredible over the past 10 years. We are thrilled to be able to offer increased power, performance – on and off-road all packed in our exclusively branded VelociRaptor package,” said John Hennessey, found and CEO of Hennessey Performance.

Interested in getting one? Be ready to shell out $19,950 (about Php 1.040 million) just for the VelociRaptor upgrade. If you want the complete package which already includes the truck itself, you have to pay up $64,950 (about Php 3.386 million). Only 500 units of the VelociRaptor Ranger will be made and each will have a unique serial number plaque in the engine bay and interior.
