three years after the first edition, the new porsche 718 cayman GT4 clubsport is set to hit the market. the more powerful race car not only offers improved driveability and fast lap times but does so with a focused use on sustainable raw materials. body parts, such as the doors and rear wing are made from natural-fiber composites, which have been primarily sourced from agricultural by-products like flax or hemp fibers. the result offers similar performance to carbon fiber in terms of weight and stiffness.

the porsche 718 cayman GT4 clubsport’s 3.8-liter flat-six engine produces 425 hp and 425 nm at 6,600 rpm. power is transferred to the rear wheels via a porsche dual-cluth gearbox with six gears and a mechanical rear axle differential lock. this delivers a high performance when paired with its minimal weight of 1,320kg, which is achieved thanks to its lightweight welded-in safety cage, racing bucket seat and six-point harness.

the race car is available in two versions: the ‘trackboy’ and the ‘competition’ variants. the former caters for amateur racing drivers with a fixed shock absorber setup and ABS, ESC and traction control assistance systems to aid handling at the limit. it also features an air-conditioning system, rescue hatch in the roof and an 80-liter FT3 safety fuel cell. the ‘competition’ model in intended for national and international motor racing. it is equipped with shock absorbers that can adjust in three stages, a safety fuel tank with a capacity of 115 liters, and a balance bias systems that enables indefinite adjustments between the front and rear axle. this car also includes a quick-released racing steering wheel that can be customized to individual preference.
